BAŞAK DİLARA ÖZDEMİR ( b. 1981 ) Pianist- Composer
She started studying piano under the guidance of Prof. Sibel Atal Devrim at Istanbul State University Conservatory at the age of seven. For further studies in piano and composition she was accepted to Liszt Ferenc/ Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest/Hungary in 1999 where she received her undergraduate and graduate degrees in 2004 with distinction- summa cum laude. She was granted a scholarship in 2005 by Fondation Boulanger for her studies at IRCAM - Institut de Recherche et Coordination Acoustique/ Musique- for a year long composition/ computer-aided music course and for chamber music studies at Conservatoire National Supérieur de musique et de danse de Paris under the guidance of Itamar Golan. She has been playing concerts as a chamber musician, soloist , composer throughout Europe, Israel and Canada from an early age. She has worked with various composers and pianists such as Jonathan Harvey, Brian Ferneyhough, Hugues Dufourt, Hanspeter Kyburz, Jeney Zoltán, Szigetvári Andrea, Kévéházi Gyöngy, Rádos Ferenc, Roland Batik, Itamar Golan. She won the Jaycees- Toyp national award ‘ The Outstanding Young Person of the Year 2004 ’ for Cultural Achievement . EME Publish (Editions Musicales Européennes- Paris) have been publishing her works since 2006. She is currently pursuing her doctoral studies in Istanbul at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University State Conservatory where she works as a part-time instructor and répétiteur.
